The Mets made a small addition to their bullpen, signing right-hander Jorge Lopez to a one-year deal Thursday, The Post confirmed.
The move reunites Lopez with new president of baseball operations David Stearns, who was the general manager of the Brewers when Lopez made his MLB debut for Milwaukee in 2015.
Lopez has struggled for much of his career, but he was an All-Star in 2022 with the Orioles before he was traded to the Twins.
The 30-year-old pitched for three different teams last year. Lopez spent the first part of the season with Minnesota before a July trade to Miami.
He then returned to Baltimore after being selected off waivers and finished the season with a WHIP of 1.268 in 49 appearances.
Lopez’s deal with the Mets, first reported by ESPN, is worth $2 million.
He will join Austin Adams and Michael Tonkin as low-cost arrivals to a remade bullpen. Because he has more than five years of MLB service time, Lopez cannot be optioned to the minors without going through waivers.
