Tom Kerridge has been slammed for selling a huge £18.50 burger with two patties, bacon, and cheese while using the money to in support of a diabetes charity.
The celebrity chef has teamed up with former England rugby captain Will Carling to make the burger – with £1 going to JDRF UK, which funds medical research to treat, prevent, and cure Type 1 Diabetes.
The Will Carling Double Decker guest burger is on sale at the Kerridge’s restaurant The Butcher’s Tap and Grill in Marlow, Buckinghamshire to coincide with the Six Nations rugby tournament.
The TV cook’s dish also has a fried egg bizarrely on top of the bun. Chips and onion rings can be added on the side for £7 and £5.50 each respectively.
But fans have questioned why he is promoting a burger laden with fat and carbohydrates for a diabetes charity.

Mr Kerridge, 50, said: ‘I’m sat next to England legend Will Carling, This is the Grand Slam Double Decker.
‘In it is gherkin, tomato ketchup, a double-decker cheeseburger, bacon, mayonnaise, brioche bun, and a fried egg on the top.
Promoting the charity, Carling, 58, said: ‘It would be great if anyone is kind enough to buy one of these and the proceeds will go there which will be lovely.’
Reacting to the video on Instagram, users were quick to point out the irony of a purchase for a burger being used to raise money for a diabetes charity.
One user joked: ‘A diabetes charity and you’re eating that?’
Another added: ‘Not for those with Type 1 Diabetes maybe.’
A third said: ‘Looks great, had to laugh when Will said what the charity was though.’
One more Instagram user quipped: ‘That will feed a family of four.’
Others remarked on the structure of the burger, as they were perplexed by the fried egg being on top of, rather than inside it.

One said: ‘Get that egg under the bun where it belongs.’
Another commenter chimed in: ‘What’s with the egg ‘on top’ illogical and unnecessarily messy.’
Type 1 Diabetes is caused by the immune system attacking insulin-producing cells in the body.
According to Diabetes UK, eating healthy is important for sufferers.
Its website reads: ‘If you have Type 1 Diabetes, it’s still important to eat a healthy diet to help you manage your blood sugar levels.’
Type 2 Diabetes is caused by high sugar levels in the body not making enough insulin. It can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
The Diabetes UK website adds: ‘The main things you can do to lower your chance of developing Type 2 Diabetes is to eat more healthily, lose weight if needed.
‘So you have a healthy weight and healthy waist size and to move more.’
