Augusta Wilhelmine Gein

Augusta Wilhelmine Lehrke Gein, also known as “The Mad Butcher,” was the mother of infamous psycho killer Ed Gein. Augusta was a deeply religious woman who was known for her extremely misogynistic view of the world, which was influenced by the misogyny of the Bible (old testament). Augusta could be blamed for her son’s descent into insanity. Augusta looked up to her father, who was very domineering and strict. “To spare the rod was to spoil the child,” he believed.

On December 11, 1900, in Hamburg, Vernon, Wisconsin, he married Augusta Wilhelmina Lehrke. They must have had at least two sons. George spent about 5 years in La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States. George died on April 1, 1940, at the age of 66, in Plainfield, Waushara, Wisconsin, United States, and was buried in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield, Waushara, Wisconsin, United States.
